What is Neural Networks in Machine Learning?

Neural networks are inspired by the human brain and it is a type of machine learning algorithm. Neural networks are used to make decisions by learning complex pattern in data that even a traditional computer can’t handle such as image processing.

As displayed in the figure, the process start with entering data, that will pass through the input layer. Each neuron multiplies inputs by weights and then apply a activation function such as Sigmoid after that it pass the results. Patterns are then identified by the hidden layers. Lastly, the final prediction is given by the output layer.

For an example, neural network can identify handwriting digits, as the input layer it takes the pixel values, as the hidden layer it detects the shapes and edge and the output layer will classify the digit such as 0-9.
